ImageMay 7th turned out to be an awesome weekend at PIR. The weather was amazing and the track was great as always. Joe Vaccaro and his crew made some significant improvements to racing this week and informed us it was here to stay. NASA AZ weighed every car after
qualifying and cleared each car before the qualifying times were validated. Everyone passed with flying colors. I squeaked by at 2629lbs.

We then had a 30 minute race where Darren Griffith pulled away at the start leaving Vince Vaccaro, myself, a BMW 318 GTS car and 2 H4 cars duking it out for the whole race. Vince put up good fight, but had a few spins. According to Paul Bloomberg we were the race to watch.

I would have loved to seen the video but my camera fell off the mount during the race so I have excellent footage of the floor board. Scott Brewer in the H4 car crept by me towards the end of the race by taking the line of a passing AC Cobra. Then I was able to get by the BMW at the same time, needless to say we had a blast.

When the race was done we were all guided to impound for inspection and a protest period. Kudos to NASA AZ for this action. After 30 minutes we had the race awards presentation, in which Toyo Dollars were handed out. NASA AZ also matched with Registration Dollars, and our local site parts distributor Scottsdale Motoring Accessories gave money that matched the Toyo Dollars. So a special thanks to all of them for everything they did. After the awards we were allowed to retrieve our cars and go home.

Sunday being Mothers day the 944 drivers talked and passed on racing Sunday due to family commitments, so no 944s raced Sunday.

(Editors Note... This was double points weekend and Jason Boles has taken the Az region series points lead for 2005!)
