Do it! No one will mind when you open it up can start handing everyone ice cold beers after the race.

I'd buy cans, not bottles, though. You wouldn't want that glass to break during the race.

It would look like a proper podium celebration. Just make sure you don't give away the beer until after you've gone across the scales. I'd hate for you to give away all of you ballast and then be DQ'd for being under weight.
