Ron, I have a taller one. I fabbed up a light sheet metal duct and bring air in from both the turn signal hole and the fog light hold for more air flow.

No. It is right near the radiator and is subject to the same dangers. Once I put the front end into a tire wall. No damage other than pushing the mounts back. No damage to radiator or cooler.
