Jerry - I'm planning on leaving Santa Cruz by 4am Friday ...so I hope to be at the track before 8. Do the gates open at 8?
I want to get a spot between the hot pit lane entry and exit. Look for my beige/sand colored GMC Sierra Z71 with the #57 car in tow. I'll try to grab enough area so we can have a Porsche compound with EASY too. Our RV/mobile hotel/poker room will arrive closer to noon.

Gates open at 7AM

There are 3 pit entrances/exits. The best place for us (if you can get down there in time) would be between the furthest 2 from the main gate up against the pit wall fence.

This is basically after you pass the old canopy. Otherwise any place down that end I think will have fewer arguments about space/ taking up too much room.

Bad news.

During the test and tune Friday afternoon the 8" hole in the oil pan that appeared on the exit of turn 13 caused withdrawal of the Fish out of Water Team.

It looks like the dreaded #2 rod bearing issue. Oil was full before the session and no warning lights for pressure gave any clue. Slight loss of power was sensed before it let go.

We tried to source a replacement engine that was already out of a car but had no luck. We would have done one engine swap over night but 2 would have been pushing the limits !

Here's a shot:

That's really bad news. Sorry to hear about the mishap. Guess that car is ready for the scrap yard. Take the cage, suspension, and whatever you can salvage for the next LeMon's car. I am sure we can find something cheap before the next one at Infineon.
