Safety question... 6 years, 9 months ago #22002

Hi Folks,

Had a driver safety question... If one has a dedicated track prepared car for SP1 (gutted, caged, fire system etc) must full driver safety gear be used if running a DE, TT or autox??

Thanks,
Dino

Not usually.
NASA would only require the Helmet and long sleeve cotton shirt. PCA varies by Region for TT, but for AX or DE, only a helmet. For a San Diego TT or Zone 8 TT, it depends on the car classification (performance). SP1 is low enough that Helmet and long sleeve cotton shirt should be all that is required, but check with each Tech guy.

Thanks Chuck!

You mentioned NASA would only require long sleeve and cotton shirt.

Does that include their 944 Spec series?... I was under the impression the series would need to conform to their CCR’s for safety.

Racing is a whole different ball game!!!!

Racing, in any class, requires SA Helmet, Hans, SFI Gloves, Socks, SFI or FIA Suit, etc!!!

Same in PCA or POC.

NASA Time Trial does not have a 944 Spec Class. My wife runs NASA TT in class TTE. They don't have to have the suit, socks or HANS. Just the SA Helmet and I believe the gloves. She has it all, as it makes sense and is, after all, your life!!

That’s what I was after, thanks!!

I couldn’t agree with you more. Full gear is cheap insurance in my book.

Thanks again!
