Wanted to go spec racing and have a car that was reliable and little between round maintenance. Wanted to buy one that was already done but all of the cars I looked at were too “used”. Figured that even a completely sorted car would need to have the engine and trans rebuilt. All the bushings and bearings would be suspect and it would probably need a new clutch. So I bought a very straight and well maintained (inch thick stack of dealer receipts) 1988 944. Stripped it to bare chassis. Before anything was put back on, it was either rebuilt or replaced with new. I am asking $10,000 ($9000 without the seat and accessories). It is a lot for one of these but I will bet that the cost of all the new items listed add up to more than the asking price. I don’t have the courage to do the addition myself. Essentially you are paying for all the items I bought and are getting the car and my labor for free.

There is not a bushing, bearing or seal that has not been replaced. The cage was custom built as was the dash / switch panel. I wanted a car that was versatile and reliable. I also had the insane idea that I might enter it in the 25 and possibly rent it. The wiring has been thinned out to get rid of all the unnecessary weight but still has everything needed for the factory gauge panel, headlights and wipers and ABS. While the ABS is not allowed for competition, it is still there for practice and for other drivers (rental). the seat is adjustable and there is a two stage rev limiter in addition to the one in the DME. The car is set up for instruction (I’m the HPDE Director for NASA NorthWest) so the cage is clear of the passenger seat and it also has NASCAR bars on both sides. The car is at a stage that allows it to be molded for its final configuration. Other than a fire extinguisher or fire system it is ready for its log book. I also considered the car for use as a rental which is why A lot of planning went into this project except for one thing. At 6’6” I am not comfortable in it. I have about ¼” headroom with a helmet. The list of features to follow is mostly complete but because of the sheer number of items there are bound to be some items omitted.
