180 each unmounted and unshaved + tax!!!!... I guess that's the price you pay when you have to buy specific tires, they are low on supply, high in demand but you need to buy them now?

I hate to keep sounding negative on these forums cause I really am a "glass is half full" personality, but this doesn't feel right.

The facts are what they are, and sometimes the situation simply sucks. Those who may call you a pessimist would only be trying to take the easy way out and avoid dealing with the problem. Nothing new at all.

Guys,

I am on vacation this week with my family.

Contingency options were discussed with John Lindsey, we just hoped to not need them this soon. I'll ask him to check in here, and we'll work it out the best we can.

Folks-

Eric asked me to pop in to give an update on where we are.

To begin, I am sorry for the stress entire awful situation has caused. You all have better things to do than worry about how the heck you are going to chase down tires to go racing. I know this issue has caused and is causing a great deal of damage to this great series and that stinks.

There is very little good information out there right now but there are plenty of rumors and guesses on what is happening. Unfortunately most of what I have seen posted in the online forums is incorrect and there does seem to be bogus data making the rounds. We have been working on this problem with Toyo non stop since the disaster in Japan and have finally reached some resolution after examining every possible angle and every piece of data we have received on stock levels and production capability. We have a few more pieces to put in place before we can announce anything but we will have information out early next week on how Toyo and NASA plan to get through this crisis. We appreciate the patience and support that you all have shown and ask again for your forgiveness as we try to find a reasonable solution to a remarkably complex problem.

So, hang in there for a few more days and look for the plan early next week.

Thanks.

John,
Thanks for dropping by.

Here is what Toyo Japan Website is saying.

http://www.toyo-rubber.co.jp/english/news/2011/110325.html

Toyo Tires Resumes Shipments of Limited Quantities of Tires (25 March, 2011)
Osaka, Japan - March 24, 2011 - TOYO TIRE & RUBBER CO., LTD. (President and CEO: Kenji Nakakura) expresses our sincerest condolences to the victims of the recent Tohoku earthquake

Toyo Tires has announced that its Sendai manufacturing plant (in Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture) has resumed shipments of limited quantities of tires, March 23rd 2011. As previously reported, the plant recommenced production yesterday on a limited basis.

The Sendai plant mainly manufactures passenger car tires and light truck tires for both the Japanese and overseas markets.

Tires will continue to be manufactured on a restricted basis due to the limited availability of electricity, fuel and raw materials, and the disruptions from a still-recovering transportation system

Toyo Tires is continuing to strive to overcome these challenges so that our Sendai operations can continue to increase production and return to full production at the earliest possible date.
