I know the factory battery cable is about 4 gauge, but I'd like to run a 6 gauge cable from the kill switch to the starter (about 3 - 4 feet). Is anyone running a 6 gauge cable? In theory it should be enough assuming the starter is limited to about 150 - 175 amps continous and only surges to 200 amps

That should not be a problem as long as you use quality wire. Electron flow on the outside of each strand of wire in the bundle so a higher strand count will carry more current. Welding cable is the best quality but pricey. The cheap cable you can buy at Kragen is the worst choice.
Go with quality!

That's for the technical insight. I do have welding cable. I never use GP wire in my auto wiring. Usually TXL or GXL depending on the location. I thought 6 gauge would work. The spec calls for 16mm which is a little smaller than 4 g.
