Very cool. One of the precepts that makes sense, but was not obvious until pointed out, is to work on the front end of the car for conner entry issues, and the rear end of the car for corner exit issues. While you can affect the cars behavior working on either end, you'll get a greater effect for a given amount of change by working on the end that is more heavily loaded at that point This makes a smaller adjustment mean more. In turn, this smaller adjustment will have less negative impact in another part of the corner.

I love this stuff. It's the meat of what it takes to make the car go fast.

Great stuff there Joe, I have been using something similar for about 10 years but this is by far a better and more comprehensive tool than what I have been using.

If possible can someone post up a permanent copy of this on 944-Spec so we can all download and print it?

One of the biggest hurdles is to determine if the driver is the actual problem or the car.

An example would be understeer at corner entry. It is possible for the driver to enter too aggressively (too fast) and turn in too quickly or to much or both. This is where Data Aq. would be very helpful to a driver who is still learning to feel the car and know what is the limit.

This is where having a different or more skilled driver drive the car to see if the problem is there or if it is driver induced. We share cars in So-Cal to help each other understand different set ups and to diagnos issues. I know that other regions do the same thing and that is one of the things that makes 944Spec so great.

Here is what I have been using and have passed out to any who wanted it in So-Cal. The above cheat sheet is better by far and I will be using that one too.

Understeer Corrections

Front Suspension Rear Suspension

Softer front springs Stiffer rear springs
Thinner or no front sway bar Rear sway bar or a thicker one
Raise front tire pressure Lower rear tire pressure
Softer front shocks Stiffer rear shocks
More negative front camber More positive rear camber
Remove weight from the front Add weight to the rear
More positive caster. Limited slip rear differential or stiffer rear diff

Oversteer Corrections

Front Suspension Rear Suspension

Stiffer front springs Softer rear springs
Front sway bar or a thicker one Thinner or no rear sway bar
Lower front tire pressure Higher rear tire pressure
More positive front camber More negative rear camber
Add weight to the front Remove weight from the rear
Stiffer front shocks Softer rear shocks

Unfortunately the web site removed all the spaces between the words in my above post so it may be a little confusing to read.

The attached file is a set up sheet I use for record keeping that I fill out before each race. I do this on a flat spot in my garage and put the car in the same spot each time.

It is a jpeg file and is a picture I took so I can post it here. If you want an emailed copy just let me know.
