TOPIC: Day #1 at Mid-Ohio

Day #1 at Mid-Ohio 11 years, 7 months ago #13662

Good weather for day#1!

As promised, the competition is tight for this years Championship race. Neal Agran and Eric Kuhns swapped fast laps through qualifying, with Agran edging out Kuhns by 0.1 second on the last lap to take the pole. Tyler Palmer qualified 3rd, with Dan Pina 4th, and Sam Grant 5th.

At the start, Agran, and Palmer hooked up nose to tail (literally), and pulled out a slight lead down the back straight over the outside column of Kuhns & Pina This was not enough to move over, and Palmer remained boxed in the inside going into the 1st turn complex ("Madness"). Kuhns & Pina made up some real estate braking into Madness, and Pina capitalized on this by freight training around Palmer on the outside, behind Kuhns, to take the third spot. The race was shortened by SE30 crashes, and finished in that order - Agran, Kuhns, Pina, Palmer, and Grant for the top 4. More to come tomorrow - stay tuned.
