The '88 944 and the '87-'88 924S has it. Not sure about the 944S.

944S has the correct short 5th, but the rest of the gears are wrong.

Ray just bought a 92S trans off Ebay for $200 this morning. They're out there....

944 Turbos also have the short 5th. A busted 944 turbo box can be a good source.

I just saw this on rennlist.

forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/924-931-9...o-transmissions.html

Both open-differential "5P" transmissions from 1986 944 Turbos.

One is working the other is not.

The working one is in excellent condition and has 110k original miles.

The non-working one was original to a car that had 101k miles.

The non-working one has been opened up and its gear box removed.

The pinion on it along with the 2nd and 3rd gears have badly chipped teeth on them. It comes complete though with all bearing and hardware included minus the external oil cooler. That is the only thing not included with it. This transmission due to its state would make a perfect core exchange for someone.

The oil has been drained from the working transmission and it looked extremely clean which always a good sign. It shifted flawlessly while on the car and includes its oil cooler.

I am asking $450 OBO for the working transmission that is in excellent condition

and $200 OBO for the non-working transmission that is need of a rebuild

I am willing to strap it down to a pallet if need be so that a carrier / freight service is able to come and pick it up, but that is the extent of what I am willing to do for the buyer in terms of shipping on my part.
