TOPIC: Air Filter

Air Filter 14 years, 9 months ago #5086

My car came to me with a KN filter. Is it legal to add something like dryer ducting to the front to get fresh air to it so it does not suck hot engine bay air? Could not find an answer in the rules.

You may do anything you want before the airflow meter. After that it needs to be stock. You may not cut any holes in the body, but may use any existing ones.

Remember stock pulled air out of the left front fender through a nice round hole. That is actually a nice spot since the air is cool there and it tends to form a bit of higher pressure there.

Most of us try to run stock if we still have the parts or can get them. Sadly many times these have gotten lost along the way.

Anyone found any benefot to a K&N panel vs. a paper one in the stock airbox?

I am looking to go back to a stock air box. I have come to realize that my make shift CAI gets the air intake temps too hot.

I'd like to run a unique intake - it uses exhaust gasses to help compress the air going into the intake after passing through a simple cooler. Is that allowed?
